Cambridge Climate and Sustainability Forum

The Cambridge Climate and Sustainability Forum is an annual student-run conference which aims to create discourse with the community and student body of Cambridge, and encourage positive action towards sustainability. This year’s theme is ‘Towards a Sustainable Future: Local Actions, Global Betterment’.  It will be held via Zoom.

Here is the agenda:

10:00 – 10:10 Introduction to CCSF
10:10 – 10:40 Interconnectivity of individual actions and global changes –  Prof Jane Heal, Emeritus Philosophy Professor at Cambridge and Trustee of Cambridge Carbon Footprint
10:40 – 11:10  Ocean preservation and reduction of plastic consumption in local businesses – Mariasole Bianco, founder of NGO Worldraise
11:10 – 11:20 Break
11:20 – 11:50 Sustainability in relation to major engineering and infrastructure projects – Dr. Theo Hacking, Director of Graduate Education & Research Strategy at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)
11:50 – 12:10 PhD students flash talks
12:10 – 13:00 Break
13:00 – 13:30 Tackling climate change: The role of climate legislation – Dr. Alina Averchenkova, Distinguished Policy Fellow, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)
13:.30 – 14:00 The ‘Cambridge Food Hub’ project – Duncan Catchpole, founder and owner of the Cambridge Organic Food Company
14:00 – 14:30 Better air, better health? Biogas cooking innovation in Kenya – Dr Natasha Grist, Senior Adviser at Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership
